So after 5 weeks of Trixing with the '08 12m and 9m, (after a previous season with Trixes also), what I can say is that they are still the most enjoyable kites around. I wish I could have used the 7 though... looking forward to it.
In terms of jumping ability compared to the Sonics, I'd say it's easier to get consistent good jumps with the Trix, as it's not as demanding as the Sonic in terms of timing and positioning. But when you get the perfect timing on a Sonic, you'll actually jump higher and float longer, definitely. Doing a few sessions recently on the Sonic II convinced me of that. Watching intermediates riders on both kites, they'll kind of jump better with the Trix. A more experienced rider would jump better on the Sonic.
In terms of kiteloops, the Trix would give more pull than the Sonic during the loop itself while the Sonic would pull more after the loop when the kite regains speed. Here again, depends how you use your skills and timing. When using 21m lines (which you should do also on the 12), you can feel the pull of ballsy kiteloops. Going down to 18m on the 9 is also something good to do for that regard, directly plugged to the power source, just hang on!
In waves, the Trix will remain responsive to turns and with always a bit of power, wherever it is in the window. This means you can always turn or loop the kite from anywhere to regain some power or reposition the kite for hitting a new section or escape something. And steering it really aggressively will make it turn supertight, so it'll complete the loop even if it's low in the window. I actually never managed to drop the kite in the waves because of that. You can always recover. Hard turning the Sonic at the edge of the window would have resulted in some loss of power followed by a burst of power once it accelerates again. Typically, surfing with a Sonic in mushy cross on shore conditions, I'd keep the kite slightly higher than I'd do with the Trix, and I can still surf happily.
But apparently the VSonic has improved on the waves front compared to Sonic2, I can't comment on this advantage (yet).
Anyway, with all of this, it's not about advantages of one kite over the other, these are just differences that can all be turned into positive advantages once you get used to them and grow or adapt your skills.
One way or another, this is great stuff...

The kite is very fast and stable as the 07, the difference from 07 is the lighter bar pressure.
The wind range is increased especially in high end, I think it has more loose feeling compared to 07.
More comments soon...
